Steven Earl Luhring (67) was born November 12, 1946. He passed away at his home on January 10, 2014 after battling with a Glioblastoma Multiforme brain tumor. Steve was born to Ruth (Morris) and Victor H. Luhring in Haubstadt, IN. Steve married Charlotte Niethammer on June 11, 1969 at Salem UCC in Darmstadt, IN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Victor A. Luhring of Evansville, IN, and Brandon (Jamie) Luhring of Haubstadt, IN; grandchildren, Kelton Leo, Isla Rose, baby boy Luhring; and one sister, Barbara Whybark of Carmi, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, John Whybark. He graduated from Haubstadt High School in 1964. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1968 from Oakland City College. In September of 1971 he earned a Master of Science in Education from Indiana University. Steve started his career teaching at Caze Elementary School and later took up farming full time. He enjoyed going out to eat with friends, spending time with his grandchildren and his pet cat, as well as relentlessly badgering friends and family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to V Foundation, Evansville Rescue Mission, and Tabor Cemetery Bell Fund (Haubstadt, IN). The family wishes to thank those who cared for Steve during his illness – specifically, those at OHA and Heritage Hospice. The family will be forever grateful for those special friends who have gone out of their way over the years to help.
