Terry Lee Pfingston, 79, Newburgh, Indiana
30 October 2023
Terry’s life on earth has reached its ending and he is now in the heavenly realm, where he will dwell forever. Loving husband, brother, and uncle, he will be missed.
He was born in Evansville, Indiana on December 23, 1943, to Harry and Charlene Pfingston. In addition to Evansville he lived in Rockford, IL, Redondo Beach, CA, Fond du Lac, WI, Ft Smith, AR, and his final home in Newburgh. He is survived by his wife Jenny Ogden-Pfingston and sister Janet Topper (John). “Uncle T” also leaves behind nieces Lori Stilz, Cindy Boyer (Kevin), Tracy Baker, Wendy Cruse (Paul), and nephew Nathan (Melanie) Topper. His Labrador retriever, Lucky, gave him many years of companionship and fond memories.
A US Army veteran, he served in Germany from 1963-1966. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist Fourth Class.
Terry worked for the United States Postal Service for 34 years, retiring in 2008. He worked his entire career in Evansville, alternating between the downtown central activity and numerous stations around the city. At his retirement he was the second-ranking tenured employee of the Evansville USPS.
A dedicated Green Bay Packers fan, he was especially keen on the 1967-68 Super Bowl Champion teams. His enthusiasm for the Packers never flagged, although he was often critical of the recent coaching staffs.
The family extends its appreciation to Woodmont Health Campus, Boonville for the loving care and compassion rendered by his caregivers since his residency began there in March. We are also grateful for the tender watchfulness during the last few weeks by Heart to Heart Hospice who provided dignity and comfort to his end of life care.
