Teddy Ann (Volkman) Kleiman passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital on March 22, 2022, after a two-month illness. She was born on January 2, 1942, to Theodore “Ted” Volkman and Ethel (Heldt) Volkman. She was raised in Elberfeld, Indiana, around the family funeral business, Volkman Funeral Home, which was started by her grandfather, Charles Heldt in 1911. She grew up on & around Elm Street in Elberfeld and would never live more than one mile from there her entire life. There, she developed lifelong friendships with classmates and neighbors, including the Kruse’s and Menke’s, who were like family to her. She graduated from Elberfeld High School in 1959 where she was the Salutatorian of her Senior Class & then attended Lockyear Business College.

She married Ronald Kleiman on October 7, 1961. She and Ron owned and operated Ron’s Marathon in Elberfeld for 30 years and operated a grain & cattle farm. Teddy Ann worked for many years as a receptionist for Dr. Gerald Enlow, where she worked alongside her daughter, Kenda Cecil. Known for her outgoing personality and infectious smile, Teddy Ann always made her patients and friends feel special.

Much like her mother before her, she could do just about anything. She was a gifted singer and organist. Teddy Ann enjoyed reading, baking, cooking, sewing, quilting, playing clabber & solitaire, and word finds. Before age caught up with them, she and Ron had a large garden and canned vegetables. Teddy Ann drove the grain truck during harvest, helped shuttle equipment around at planting time and did the book work for the gas station and farm. Her five grandchildren were the light of her life. She enjoyed helping them with 4H Projects, following them in various activities, and making baby quilts for each one of them and large quilts for Confirmation.

Teddy Ann was also a huge sports fan, especially IU basketball. She would talk to her cousin, Barb Elliott, about how the games went, good or bad. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Elberfeld American Legion Auxiliary, and the Raintree Quilters Guild.

Teddy Ann is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ron; a daughter, Kenda (Kevin) Cecil; a son, Kent (Shelly) Kleiman; brother-in-law, Lonnie Kleiman (Ginger Cleveland); grandchildren, Grant, Ethan, and Alexa Cecil, Sydney and Sophie Kleiman; nephews, Darrell, John and Jason Kleiman and niece, Donna Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Don Kleiman; two sisters-in-law, Sharon & Judi Kleiman; and goddaughter Kim Elliott

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 25, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1925 Volkman Rd. Evansville, IN 47725.
