Thomas Ashlock Hall, 87, of Newburgh, Ind., passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Newburgh Healthcare Center. He was born September 24, 1927 in Evansville.
He was a World War II Army Veteran serving from 1945-1947, he was stationed on Luzon Island in the Philippines. He received the American Legion Certificate of Honor, Presented by the Kapperman Post 44 of Newburgh.
He retired after some 35 years from Ball Plastic Corporation (formerly Kent) in 1992 where he worked in maintenance.
Thomas was a Charter and Lifetime Founding Member of Antique Steam and Gas Engine Club, located in Thresherman's Park in Boonville. He was a Newburgh Native where on a nice sunny days you would most likely see him with his steam engine blowing the whistle to the people passing by. He spent many hours with his friends setting at the Bench of Knowledge located as you enter Newburgh from the west where he kept his steam engine, a 1923 Keck-Gonnerman antique steam engine that he purchased and restored in 1966 and won several awards, it was his pride and joy. Thomas enjoyed traveling with friends to many states to attend antique steam engine shows where he loved sharing his steam engine and steam locomotives stories and knowledge.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille (Ashlock) Linthwaite, and brother Frank Linthwaite. Thomas is survived by his loving caregivers, Deborah and Mitchell Tilley of Newburgh.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Monday, August 3, 2015, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh, Ind., (812) 853-8314. Rev. Tom Hubachek will officiate. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with full Military Rites conducted by The American Legion Kapperman Post 44 Honor Guard.
