Wanda Louise Cooper, 73, of Shoals, IN, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Shirley Alvey and Ethel (Allen) Tow, and her step-father, the late Jesse Tow. She had one brother, Roy Lee Alvey, who passed away in infancy. Wanda was born on January 26, 1942 in Shoals, IN. Wanda graduated from Shoals High School in 1960. Just out of high school she worked at RCA, in Bloomington, for a few years. She then attended Vincennes Beauty College and Marinello Comer Method, where she graduated in 1965. Wanda's main occupation has always been a beautician. She owned Ethel's Beauty Salon, established in 1940, by her late mother, Ethel Tow. The salon is one of the longest continuing running business in Shoals recently celebrating the firms 75th. Anniversary. She had other lines including several area jewelry stores, and she has enjoyed each job. Over the years she has been a member of the Indiana Hairdressers Association. She was also a member of the Gama Iota Chapter of Psi Iota XI, and was currently a member of both the Eagles Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed yard work and landscaping. Wanda was quoted as saying being selected as Grand Marshall of the Shoals Catfish Festival was "the greatest honor she had had in a long time". Wanda is survived by three children, Denise Matheis of Loogootee, IN, Steven Cooper of Cornelius, NC, and Garrick Cooper of Shoals; five grandchildren, Alyssa Matheis, Lauren Matheis, Storm, Isaac, and Chloe Cooper; two great-grandchildren, Judd and Grace Bledsoe; and caregiver, Benilva "BeBe" Cavalo. Services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, August 7, 2015 at the Shoals Christian Church. Pastor Matt Sullivan will officiate with burial to follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 6 and Friday 11 a.m. to service time at the church. Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Newburgh, IN is handling arrangements. (812) 853-8314.
