William “Bill” Gene Barrow, 91 of Chandler IN passed away at home on Monday, February 23rd 2026, attended by his caregiver/loving wife of 63.5 years.

Bill was born on November 17, 1934 in East St. Louis, IL to his parents, Oscar and Mavis Barrow. They moved to Evansville, IN where Bill graduated from Central High School in 1953. He was the Shop Foreman at McGee VW in Evansville. The VW Distributorship in Grand Rapids, MI offered him a position in their Training Center to become an Automotive Technical Instructor after which he took college classes in Madison, WI - a career he enjoyed for 30 years.

He developed a passion for golf during his MI life. Upon retirement in 2000 and returning to his roots here in the Evansville area he got involved in the EJGA: Evansville Junior Golf Association teaching the “little ones” the fundamentals & etiquette of golf putting on many clinics & officiating at their events. He went on to become certified to officiate at the IN state level of golf tournaments. This was his passion: GOLF!

In his retirement he also became a passionate wood working craftsman specializing in make American Girl Doll Furniture in his pole barn woodshop. He worked individually with our neighborhood children crafting wood working projects for Warrick County 4-H fair projects. He was a perfectionist & it showed in all his finished products.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar & Mavis (May) Barrow; sister, Evelyn Harvey; and brother, Jim Barrow. Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Rose Ann “Cookie” (Bayer) Barrow; sons, William David (Patti) Barrow of McCall, Idaho and Douglas Gene Barrow of Grand Rapids, MI; grandsons, Caden Reed, Sebastian Alexander and Demetrius Xavier; as well as many beloved nieces & nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held in Bill’s honor at 11:00am on Saturday 2/28/26 at St. John Baptist Catholic Church 625 Frame Rd, Newburgh, IN lead by Fr. Tom Kessler with Deacon Jay VanHoosier assisting. A visitation will be held at the church at 10am till mass time. Additional visitation will also be held on Friday 2/27/26 from 3p to 6p at Titzer Family Funeral Homes Simpson Chapel 510 W Jennings St. Newburgh. IN. Burial will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery & will be private.
