William Henry "Bill" Burris

William Henry “Bill” Burris, 78, of Newburgh, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023. He was born January 14, 1945, to John F. Burris Sr., and Sallie Mae (Frances Brooks) Burris.

Bill was one of seven children. He graduated from Douglas High School and worked in maintenance for many years.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers John Frances Burris Jr., Lavell Burris, Charles “Gator Man” Burris, Maxie, sister, Carolyn Burris, his son, Wilbert Farris, and his daughter, Elise Parker.

He is survived by his oldest daughter, Kimberly Higgins Simmons (Carl), daughter, Octavia Burris, son, Corey Farris (Brandi), the baby of the bunch daughter, Kasey Burris, sisters, Fannie Warren, and Dorothy Burris, his good friend Jay, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, and friends.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the caregivers at Cypress Grove, and Deaconess Hospice.

Bill’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held by his children at a later date.
