William Richard Smith

William Richard Smith, 82, of Chandler, Ind., passed away January 12, 2017, at Woodlands Golden Living Center.  He was born January 8, 1935, in Evansville, to Sherman Albert and Thelma Mary (Chisenhall) Smith. 
William was a truck driver for Whirlpool for 35 years; he volunteered at the Evansville State Hospital; and was a member of the 1st Southern Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Margie Slaughter, Louise Genco, Alice Devers, Sherman Jr., Carter, Donald, and Elmer Smith.

William is survived by his children, Steve R. Smith (Renetta), Sue A. Dye; 4 grandchildren, Kelly Martin Smith, Alicia Michelle Smith, Mary Elisabeth Dye, Darrell Wayne Reed; 5 great-grandchildren; and sister, Bernice Halter.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St., Evansville, Ind., (812) 424-9274.  Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. 

Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m., Monday, and 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.  Sympathy wishes to the family may be shared at www.titzerfuneralhomes.com.
